Travel to Namibia

This month started with a fantastic incentive group to Namibia. We flew with private cesna planes over the Namib coastline, we did hot air ballooning over the Sossusvlei area and had dinner at Swakopmund’s famous Moonlandscape which was lit by a million candles. This country is just a perfect destination if you wish to impress someone.

There is one direct flight with Air Namibia from Frankfurt to Windhoek alternatively there is a slightly cheaper, but slightly longer flight via Johannesburg to Windhoek.

Namibia's biggest attraction is the incredible variation of beautiful landscapes. From the Kalahari Desert to the amazing Sossusvlei dunes, mountains in all colours and formation and bush. Although Etosha has got an abundance of wildlife, when visiting Namibia (in my personal opinion) one’s emphasis should rather lie on "nature in general” rather than "Safari”.

Because of the vastness of the country: 825,000 square kilometers large (47 times the size of the Uk, 27 times the size of Belgium), one very important rule to remember in Namibia is that distances are very important. For a country that huge, it only has about 6000 kms tarred road. The gravel roads are generally good but they will slow you down quite a bit. Always talk to someone who knows the area very well, rather than making up your own itinerary.

Budget wise when travelling as a couple, a 10-day camping tour would cost you about Euro 1300 per person and for a midrange to luxury trip, you should at least count Euro 2500 and upwards. (Exclusive of flights)
