Doesn't the world "Taj” alone, make you dream already? Taj means "Crown” which explains the royal feeling which one immediately associates when hearing the name.

The 5-star hotel TAJ CAPE TOWN opened its doors officially on the 20th of March and BelAfrique obviously was there to witness this historical moment. The building is located right in the heart of the City, next door to the Company gardens and St George Cathedral ( AKA "People's Cathedral” or "Bishops Tutu’s Church” where he coined the phrase "Rainbow People" to describe South Africa's diverse population mix. )

The hotel is a stone throw away from St George Mall, Greenmarket square, Longstreet etc. A absolute perfect location for those who like to discover the city on foot.

The hotel has two restaurants and a seafood and champagne bar:

1. MINT, a grille restaurant is built on three levels. It is an all-day informal restaurant.

2. On the ground floor, the hallowed halls of the Reserve Bank have been restored to house the BOMBAY BRASSERIE, an Indian fine-dining restaurant. The elegant décor and authentic Indian cuisine offer a more formal and exotic culinary experience.

Stepping in from the bustle of Wale Street, the TWANKEY, a seafood and champagne bar is a relaxed, but sophisticated gathering place, ideal for a fresh seafood snack and glass of excellent South African wine with friends.

The Jiva Spa is a feature of the hotel which should prove popular with both guests and Capetonians. Jiva Spas draw from Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing tradition, and deliver a range of signature treatments, yoga and meditation.

A definite must go if you wish to spoil yourself. Please ask for the special launch packages on offer.
